Очередной тематический сборник, - издание проекта «Мастера варгана – волшебного звука творцы» представляет собой подборку статей по теме археологических варганов.
В сборнике собраны как полные тексты статей, так и выдержки из более крупных публикаций, посвященные обнаружению варганов в ходе археологических исследований. Речь в материалах сборника преимущественно идет о находках на территории бывшего Советского Союза (Прикамье и Поволжье, Центральная Россия, Алтай, Украина, Узбекистан, Приморье) и лишь одна известная статья японского исследователя посвящена японским варганам.
Это первый опыт подобного рода издания, в котором осуществлена попытка собрать под одной обложкой наиболее значимые русско-язычные публикации (лишь одна статья – О.Пашковского об украинских дрымбах публикуется в переводе с украинского языка) по теме археологических варганов.

Another theme compilation - the edition of the project "Master vargana - the magical sound of the creator" is a compilation of articles on the subject of archaeological varganov.
The Collection is collected both full texts of articles and extracts from larger publications dedicated to the detection of varganov in archaeological studies. The content of the compilation is mainly about the find in the territory of the former Soviet Union (Prikamʹe and volga, central Russia, Altai, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, primorje) and only one famous article of the Japanese Explorer is dedicated to Japanese varganam.
This is the first experience of this kind of edition, which has attempted to collect under one cover the most meaningful Russian-language publications (only one article - o. Paškovskogo about Ukrainian drymbah is published in translation from Ukrainian language) on the subject of archaeological varganov.

Думаю, не стоит пояснять, почему именно мастера якутского хомуса Николай Петрович и Николай Николаевич Бурцевы (Николай Бурцев) стали героями первого издания подобного рода. It is difficult to argue with the fact that among the masters - the Vargano-creators, occasional people do sometimes come across. - those who treat this type of craft as a creative work, and from whose hands come out piece, exclusive products.

These are the masters whose merits make it possible to inscribe their names in the History. The history of world harpscreation. Olonkho (Russian: Олонхо́, Sakha: Олоҥхо, Kazakh: Олонхо, Bashkir: Олонхо) is a heroic epic tale of the Yakuts and one of the oldest epic arts of the Turkic peoples. The term refers to the entire Sakha epic tradition as well as its central epic.

The Olonkho is still performed in the Sakha Republic. The poetic tales are performed by a singer and story-teller in two parts: a sung part in verse alternates with a prose part composed of recitatives. In addition to possessing good acting and singing skills, the narrator must be a master of eloquence and poetic improvisation. The epic consists of numerous legends about ancient warriors, deities, spirits and animals, but also addresses contemporary events, such as the disintegration of nomadic society. The Olonkhos, varying from 10,000 to 20,000 verses (or more) in length, are sung during a period of up to seven nights. "Nyurgun Bootur the Swift", the best-known, consists of more than 36,000 verses.

Given that each community had its own narrator with a rich repertoire, numerous versions of Olonkho circulated. The tradition was developed within the family context for entertainment and as a means of education. Reflecting Yakut beliefs, it also bears witness to the way of life of a small nation struggling for survival at times of political unrest and under difficult climatic and geographical conditions.

The political and technological changes in twentieth-century Russia have threatened the existence of the epic tradition in the Sakha Republic. Although there has been a growing interest in Olonkho since the Perestroika years, this tradition is endangered because of the very low number of practitioners.

It's not simple to explain in short comment the ancient Faith and the astronomical knowledge of the Sakha people.

Basically, the calendar of the Sakha people, as well as their mythological World Tree - Aal Luuk Mas (the Axis of the World), had the upper and lower worlds, and in the lower world in the representation of the Sakha people, even the Sun and all his inhabitants moved in the opposite direction. The account of days of the “dark” half of a month, under the decreasing Moon, in an ancient calendar of Sakha was kept in the opposite direction, the same way were estimated months in the “dark” half of a year.

In such conditions, the relationship with the eternity, with the life and death, with ancestors and with moral purity had to be clear and daily. 
The stellar sky served the northern people as a clock, a compass and a calendar. 

Natural long observation of the shining stars in the dense darkness of the cold sky, at the annual rotation of the Big Dipper around a fixed Pole Star had to reproduce a swastika form in consciousness of ancient ancestors of people.
As far back as 1901, Zelia Nuttall recognized the role of the Big Dipper in the whirling logs or swastika design so common in American Indian artifacts. The review of her article “The Fundamental Principles of New and Old World Civilizations” from the Archaeological and Ethnological Papers of the Peabody Museum of Harvard University, notes that Ms. Nuttall suggested that the swastika symbol was “believed to have originated in the revolution of the stars of Ursa Major about Polaris….”. A swastika which often meets in design of historical artifacts of American Indians, it is the image of the Big Dipper in its movement, round the Pole Star, within all four seasons of the year. The Big Dipper, according to the ancient Mississippians, is part of a great Astronomical Bird - birds, a snake and an elk, who met together in spinning round the Portal of Heavens, round the Creation Cave. 

As we see, the Sakha people related with the American Native people not only genetically, but also with this universal symbol of infinity and the movement of space, a force and an creation, a fertility and a creative potentiality. The word 'swastika' in translation from a Sanskrit means 'wellbeing’.
The symbol of a swastika is known from time immemorial and in cultures of many people means the Absolute. Other symbol of the Absolute is the World tree - our native Sarga - Aal Luuk Mas or the Axis of the World.

Russia is a country with a handful of jaw harp traditions: in Sakha/Yakutia, in the Altai, and in Tuva the Khomus (or Komus) is played; in Bashkortostan the Kubyz is known, and in Western Russia and in the big cities such as Moscow and St. Petersburg one can hear the name Vargan. The different terms already indicate diverse cultural links of the instrument. Since the 2000s more and more people remember these instruments again after the mouth harps had been forgotten for many decades. Now several hundreds of people in Russia are extensively engaged with this instrument, and it might be thousands who at least once held a Vargan, Khomus, or Kubyz in their hand. Furthermore there are many mouth harp artisans who produce excellent instruments. These are reasons enough to have a more intensive look at the Russian scene..
